Who is eligible for a Teachers’ Insurance Plan auto policy?
If you are a member of one of the following Pennsylvania educator eligibility groups****, you could qualify for the Teachers’ Insurance Plan auto policy 15% discount.
- Current and retired pre-K – 12 faculty, administrators and support staff employed by a public school district, a certified Pre-K, or certified private, charter or parochial school
- Current and retired college and university faculty, administrators and staff
- Board of Education officials
- Employees of education unions
- Spouses of all the above groups are eligible as long as a member of one of the above eligible groups is a driver on the policy.

****Employees of contracted firms working for a school district but not paid directly by the school or school district (food service contractors, transportation companies, or substitute teacher outsourcing firms, for example) are not eligible for the Teachers discount.

2Personal auto insurance policyholders may be reimbursed up to $50 for taxi or ride service fees once per policy per year for a one-way ride if they find themselves in a situation where it would be unsafe to operate their vehicle (not applicable to mechanical breakdown). Original receipt must be submitted with the reimbursement form.
3Roadside assistance is provided by a third-party vendor. Up to two gallons of gas are provided free of charge (delivery of gas limited to four (4) times in any twelve (12) month period). Other fluids provided at additional cost. If your car is disabled, it will be towed to the closest dealer or authorized repair facility of your choice within 25 miles. If there is no repair facility within 25 miles, then it will be towed to the closest repair facility, with no out-of-pocket expense (towing limited to six (6) occurrences in any twelve (12) month period). Roadside assistance is not available for vehicles that are disabled as a result of an accident. A $75 limit applies to reimbursements for roadside assistance services that were not obtained by contacting the third-party vendor. If a service call is not cancelled before the service provider is on their way, or the policyholder is not present when the service provider arrives, it will count towards their usage limit even if no service is provided.
