Go Green for Spring

Last updated on May 16, 2017 at 02:40 pm

Spring is only ten days away and we couldn’t be more excited! Everyone at Plymouth Rock Assurance is buzzing about the bird chirping and the sun shining so we decided to share our favorite tips for going green in time for spring.

Plant a Garden
It may sound like a lot of work but it doesn’t have to be. Start small and plant of a few of your favorite herbs in some small pots that are easy to manage. This is a great way to get your green thumb going. If you live in an apartment or condo try planting in a window box or a small pot by the window.  The smell and taste of fresh herbs will brighten up your day.

Reduce and Reuse
Cutting down on clutter and waste is a great way to go green. When you are cleaning out the closets make sure to donate clothes and items you don’t wear anymore. Also, recycle old papers and magazines. You can go even further by signing up for EFT, eDocuments and electronic communications from companies you do business with. This helps everyone save.

Green Cleaning
Spring cleaning is not a new idea but doing it with Mother Nature in mind is getting easier and easier. Not only are there many more environmentally-safe cleaning products available, there is also a great source of alternative methods for making your own cleaning supplies that are kinder to your wallet and the planet.

Unplug
Yep, it’s obvious but spring is a perfect time to unplug and get outside, and when we say unplug we mean literally unplug! Most of your appliances still consume power in standby mode even when you are not using them. Plug items like your laptop, phone chargers, TV and others into power strips so you can easily unplug them or switch them off when not in use. Now go enjoy some fresh air!
