Last updated on July 28, 2017 at 09:03 am

Summer has finally arrived! That means warm weather, barbecues, outside dining and most importantly … beach trips! On a hot, sunny day, the beach is a great place to take the entire family. Whether you want to relax and read a book, build a sandcastle, or play in the water, the beach has fun for everyone! If you live in New Hampshire or are just visiting, be sure to check out these beaches to get the most out of your beach trip:

Great Island Common

Although the beach itself may be small, there is a giant hill that offers a magnificent view of the sea. The area also has picnic tables and a large playground.

301 Wentworth Rd, New Castle, NH 0385

Hampton Beach

Hampton Beach is one of the largest and most popular beaches in NH. It’s surrounded by a quaint and cool beachside town filled with restaurants, shops, a boardwalk and more. Plus, every Wednesday during the summer there is a beautiful fireworks display.

Jenness State Beach

The less developed and more isolated Jenness Beach makes the perfect spot for a peaceful day at the beach. The waves are usually pretty big so if you’re feeling adventurous, grab a boogie board and hit the surf!

5 Perkins Rd, Rye, NH 03870

North Beach State Park

This well-kept and beautiful beach is perfect for taking a walk or lying in the sun. However, before you go, make sure to check the tides, because during high tide the sand is covered!

Ocean Boulevard, Hampton, NH 03842

North Hampton State Beach

If Hampton Beach is too crowded for you, drive further north to reach North Hampton Beach. This well maintained beach is perfect for a quiet and relaxing day.

27 Ocean Blvd, North Hampton, NH 03862

Rye Beach

Rye is a popular and well-kept beach with a long and clear shoreline. The wide spaces and clear water make it a perfect beach day spot.

Seabrook Beach

If you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing beach spot, Seabrook is the place for you. The gorgeous coastline makes it the perfect place to lay your towel and enjoy the sun.

Sunapee State Beach

Although this beach is not along the Atlantic, Sunapee State is one of the most popular beaches in the Lakes Region. Right next to Mount Sunapee is this large and sandy beach chock-full of activities. Not only is the beach perfect for swimming, but it also offers canoe and kayak rentals, a playground, and a gift store.

86 Beach Access Rd, Newbury, NH 03255

Wallis Sands State Park

Located just south of Portsmouth, this popular beach is a great place to spend time because of its soft sand, beautiful ocean views and convenient snack bar.

1010 Ocean Blvd, Rye, NH 03870

Weirs Beach

Another beach located in the Lakes Region instead of on the Atlantic, Weirs beach has soft sand, beautiful views of Lake Winnipesaukee and a boardwalk filled with shops and arcades.
