Page Insurance agency hardly got off to an auspicious start. It had only been in operation for about 4 years when it suffered a massive loss. The Great Fire of 1882 destroyed much of downtown Haverhill. That was a huge loss for the city and the amount of money the agency paid in that loss was substantial.William Page~s son, James G. joined the agency and after the death of his father in 1916, became President. James G. was also president of the Haverhill Cooperative Bank and coached the Haverhill High football team for years culminating in a state championship in 1904. The same qualities that led to victory on the playing field proved equally successful in the insurance business. (see image above, James G. is 2nd from the right, back row)In 1934, James R. Page, James G. Page~s son, joined the Agency and built on the legacy of insurance expertise begun in 1878. George McGregor, friend and neighbor of James R., joined the agency in the 1950~s and son-in-law of James R., Charles R. Traver entered the business in 1967.
