Our Financial Strength

Plymouth Rock Assurance offers insurance protection for you and your family through a group of insurance underwriting companies. Our companies provide auto, home and umbrella products to more than a half-million customers.

Plymouth Rock companies in New England, New Jersey and Pennsylvania write more than $1 billion in annual insurance premium and manage more than $550 million in surplus (also called statutory equity).

Surplus is the financial cushion that is accessed to pay unanticipated policyholder claims (for example, from a catastrophe). Essentially, it is how much money a company has left over after all debts and other obligations are paid.

The Plymouth Rock companies are financially very strong. A.M. Best has assigned an “A-” rating to the New England insurance companies and Bunker Hill Insurance Group, our New England home insurance affiliate, has a “B++” rating from A.M. Best.

Plymouth Rock’s New Jersey companies have an “A, Exceptional” rating from Demotech, Inc., and a “B++” rating from A.M. Best.

In addition to a very strong financial position, Plymouth Rock strives to provide the best customer care in the insurance industry. Whether you purchased your insurance policy through an agent or directly through Plymouth Rock, you will receive the same excellent coverage and care. We love to hear from our customers about their experience, so please share any questions or feedback you might have

Our company is built on the people we insure. Thank you for trusting us to protect your most valuable assets.  Please take a look at our annual reports and common stock appraisals for further information about our financial strength.
