Liability coverage All vehicle owners in the Garden State are required to have liability coverage. The two types, bodily injury and property damage, pay others for damages or injuries you cause if you are responsible or partially responsible for an accident. Read more about how it protects you.

Comprehensive coverage
This coverage may pay for repairs to your car when it’s damaged by something not related to a collision with another vehicle. That includes natural disasters, vandalism, fire and theft. If you financed the purchase of your vehicle, or leased it, you may be required to carry this coverage. You can find more information about it here.

Collision coverage
Damage to your car caused by hitting stationary objects, fender benders or rollover crashes are typically covered by this type of insurance. It differs from liability coverage in that it pays for your car repairs. Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage
This coverage can help pay for expenses you incur after an accident with a vehicle driven by someone who is not insured or doesn’t have enough insurance. There are two parts to this coverage: bodily injury and property damage. Read more information.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and medical payments coverage 
Personal injury protection, or PIP, covers your medical expenses when you’re injured in an auto accident. It’s also known as “no-fault” coverage because it can apply no matter which driver caused the accident. Read more about PIP.
